All American

Clothes for an all American day. It's memorial day in the US so for many that means stars, stripes and flags, but for me--just another chill day. I don't think I have too much family in the forces [they're all from Panama] so you know how that goes. However, to show my American spirit, I decided to do a post on UNIS, a clothing company made and designed in the means streets of NYC. The brand seems to give off that classic Americana vibe, which if done correctly can turn into something great. Styling could be a bit better [tired of the rolled up chino] but if I could afford it I'd most definitely be buying. It's still a relatively new company so I'd give it some time.
OH yea--I love America.

This Time Baby I'll be Lazerproof

http://cdn.pitchfork.com/media/roux.jpg

What is this some kind of collaboration between La Roux and Major Lazer? INDEED IT IS. To be fairly honest, I had my doubts about the whole thing, considering that I can rarely stomach anything that La Roux has to offer
[it might just be the production. Too bubblegum]. However, after I gave the mixtape a good listen or two, my thoughts about the situation soon changed.
THIS WAS A GREAT IDEA. Diplo and Switch are two of the coolest white guys I've never met, and when you combine them with the likes of La Roux [who has the voice of a tender broken hearted angel] you get something that's damn near perfect.
As you direct your attention downwards you'll notice that I've compiled a list of my four favorite songs. They're all pretty great but the Gucci Mane remix definitely took me by surprise. Since I secretly download and listen to Gucci's music behind my friends back, you can imagine how excited I was to hear her voice over the beat.
This is most definitely worth your time. LAZERPROOF

Spent a Little Money

AND IT FEELS GOOD. Gap is probably one of my favorite stores at the moment, and it was just my luck that I was able to find exactly what I've been looking for for the past 8 months--chukka boots. Originally I only wanted the standard issue type [camel suede, thin bottom] but when I set my eyes on these I just couldn't step away. These give off more of a summer vibe with the dark canvas and contrast sneaker type sole, but I'd imagine they'd be just fine when winter rolls around. AND ONLY 42 BONES.

I've been trying to find some decently priced tee shirts for quite some time now. Jcrew's just too expensive and Gap tees lose shape so those were no option. Lucky me, I found the new tee spot-- TARGET. And only 7 bucks? I bought 2 but I plan on having many more in my future.

Ladies love peach....and the gun show.
I sometimes forget that you guys rarely get to see my face. We'll work on that, I can't let you forget me.

Divided We Fall

One would think that since it's summer I'd be blogging a little more often but surprisingly enough, time has not been on my side. I do have a legitimate excuse though--I had to spend time with my granny. Of course there's no wifi anywhere in the hood so naturally the only way for me to keep in touch was to use the 2 inch screen on my cellphone [didn't work out]. I'll do better, don't worry.

It's no surprise that streetwear makes up about 32% of my wardrobe [rough estimate]. I've always been a big fan of Triumvir and this collection's no different. I'm not too fond of flashy tees or douche bag graphic prints, so this brand in particular generally calls to me. It might seem a little too basic or expected but all around, a decent collection. Divided we fall, Triumvir Spring 2010.

A little about me: I've played trumpet for about 10 years now, so of course I had to show the videobook. What's important isn't just the clothes but that solo. O how I melt like a little bitch when I hear a great trumpet solo. If there's any jazz buffs out there [has to be] hit me with a comment if you have any leads on the artist above.

New Interest to Keep me Occupied

As of Thursday, school is officially over. Surprisingly I haven't shed any tears but this just may be do to the fact that I've manned up a little bit [I'll give it some time]. No job this summer so needless to say I've got nearly an endless supply of time on my hands. I can't drive so driving school is a must, my Spanish is lackluster so studying is a have to, but other than that how else will I spend my time? Well besides reading and friends, I've decided to take up the art of BONSAI. Believe it or not, there are some young black males who find trees beautiful. I've been trying to read up on as much info as possible, I think I have a real interest here. Oh, and if anybody has an old ass Asian relative, why don't you do me a solid and ask them to share some secrets [no disrespect].

I understand that it takes years and years for a bonsai to resemble anything as stunning as the above, but you know what, I'm prepared for that. I just want something that I can call my own. It'll be mine.

My Mother Likes the Things I Like

As usual, mother's day was decent. For the most part we spent the whole day eating, sleeping, and waking up to eat again [RARE]. Unfortunately, I had to head back down to Huntsville and begin my long long night of last minute cramming  to ensure that my GPA is nothing less than genius [and by that I mean at least a 3.25]. Three more finals and boom, the deed is done.
As you pan down you'll notice some dope [said it again] ass apparel. As usual I've never heard of the brand but they're only three years young so that could explain some things. I'm really into some of the looks, a lot of pieces being quite wearable despite their intimidating appearance. Some of it seems like its been done before considering the recent fad of way to expensive "workwear" but none the less, the brand is definitely one that I'll be keeping an eye on.

Banksy I Thank You

I like to think that you know your city's big when....Banksy does pieces all over your streets. Ever since his premiere of Exit Through the Gift Shop he's been popping up all over the place, San Francisco being one of them. Now even though it's been quite some time since I've visited my hometown I just can't help but to represent. WHAT UP CALI?

Spring Time is a Good Time

Two more weeks of school and I am officially done. My first year of college has gone by fairly quickly and believe it or not it wasn't too bad [I don't mean to toot my own academic horn but beep beep ho].  I've met lots of new faces and have made even fewer real friends but I guess that's how it's suppose to be huh? Shouts to MALIBUMARA and BMAGIC for making Spanish class less lame, and for coincidentally going to the same university as I.

On a new note I bring your attention to Baron Wells. Nice clothes with grade A quality and a grade A price tag
[150 a shirt. DAMN]. I really do like some of the items but as usual, I'm just window shopping.
